Here are some of the key talking points off the back of the Dogs' Round 15 win over the Tigers.

Still work to be done:

The Bulldogs recorded an impressive 79-point win over the Tigers in the Round 15 clash at Marvel Stadium.

Despite recording two-consecutive wins at an average winning margin of over 74 points and recording their eighth score of the season over 100 points, senior coach Luke Beveridge remained realistic about his team's need to get the job done against the top sides in the competition.

Beveridge is keen to turnaround the Dogs' current 1-6 record against teams in the top eight and have a stronger push into the finals series.

"We're not shying away from the fact that we haven't been able to beat most of the teams above us," Beveridge said following the win.

"They're above us and higher up the ladder for a reason. They're the better teams in the competition.

“We understand that when there’s a heightened degree of pressure and maybe an increased physicality, we’re usually pretty good at that. But, the better teams have been able to hold sway unfortunately.

“When we reflect on the games in the lead up to today, we’ve been in every game - that’s important."

The Dogs will enter the next month with must-win games against Sydney, North Melbourne, Adelaide and Brisbane.

Big Dogs step up:

It was a game won very much in the second and third quarters, with some of the Dogs’ biggest names stepping up to build an unassailable lead.

Speaking in the member-exclusive Coaches’ Brief, GM of Football Operations Matt Egan shared praise for the impact that the likes of Tim English, Marcus Bontempelli, Ed Richards and Matt Kennedy were able to have throughout the game.

The four finished with a combined six goals, 23 clearances and 35 score involvements in a dominant display on Sunday afternoon.

“Our experienced players probably shined,” Egan said.

“Around the ball, Tim English had a fair game. It’s his around the ground stuff that’s highlighted.

“Marcus went forward, kicked goals. Ed Richards continues to have an outstanding season, not just possession wise but, also hitting the scoreboard.

“Matt Kennedy has been unbelievable for us. When those guys are on top you obviously feel like you get a lot of inside 50s and a lot of support for our forwards.

“Players like Darc get rewarded off the back of it.

“It’s important we saw our game style today. We took a lot of uncontested marks and the game looked like it was on our terms, which was great.”

Out of the dark:

Sunday afternoon's game represented a moment a long-time in the making for Bulldogs' defender Nick Coffield.

Coffield would return to the AFL side for his first game since Round 22 last year, overcoming several injury setbacks to earn his spot.

After being in-and-out of training over the pre-season, the 25-year old has found form with Footscray VFL over the last two months and looked up to the task against the Tigers.

Speaking honestly after the game, Coffield spoke on the hardships faced over the last few years and the joy found in his return.

“It’s been tough, it’s been a lean few years,” Coffield said.

“I think, unfortunately, I’ve become pretty good with dealing with setbacks. It’s positive I can get through it, but I’d rather not.

“It’s just staying engaged with the group. Obviously, it gets pretty dark sometimes in rehab especially when you have recurring setbacks.

“Just staying engaged with the group and seeing your mates and stuff and coming out of yourself. When you get inside your own head, it can get pretty dark at times.

“The group is awesome and getting around me, the coaches as well. I’m just happy to get back.”
