The time has come.

With the pre-season well-and-truly underway, the AFL has today confirmed the official pre-season fixture.

Fans will have two opportunities to get a glimpse of their beloved Dogs in both a match-simulation training and a practice match ahead of the upcoming AFLW season.

Footy will once again return to Mission Whitten Oval when the Dogs take on Roos in an official match-simulation training on Friday 25 July, with all the action kicking off at 6PM (AEST).

The Dogs will then make the trip out West to face the Eagles in an official practice match to be held on Saturday 2 August at 6:15PM (AEST).

It will be the perfect test for the Dogs ahead of their opening game of the 2025 NAB AFLW Season which will see them take on the Demons on Saturday 16 August at Mission Whitten Oval.

Speaking on the pre-season, AFLW Senior Coach Tam Hyett spoke positively on the intensity and effort being brought by the team week in, week out.

“The girls have been fantastic. They really drove their own development in the off-season, so now that we’re in the really structured part of pre-season, we’re able to just focus on football,” she said.

“They’ve been really engaged and have a real appetite to be better.”

Fans will not only have the opportunity to return to Mission Whitten Oval but, they will also get their first look at several fresh faces who arrived at the Kennel at the conclusion of the 2024 season.

New draftees Emma McDonald, Sarah Poustie and Keeley Hardingham all joined the Dogs through the 2024 Telstra AFLW Draft.

The Dogs were also able to add depth and experience through the recruitment of Lou Stephenson, who joined the Club after 50 AFLW games for both GWS and Hawthorn.

Ticketing information will be confirmed in the coming days.
