Bulldogs Through & Through, the Club’s official 100-year commemorative book, is now available for purchase.
Written by Darren Arthur and Andrew Gigacz, Bulldogs Through & Through traces the storied history of the Western Bulldogs, from its beginnings as Footscray in the 1880s through its admission to the VFL in 1925, and the following century of elite footy that has included precious triumphs, some heartbreaking defeats and countless outstanding individual performances.
There were times when the Club was on the edge of extinction, only to rebound to become one of the AFL’s most professional and successful teams, and as a proud pioneer in the development of the AFLW.
The book profiles many of the great players who have represented the Bulldogs, including members of the Australian Football Hall of Fame, Brownlow Medallists, Coleman Medallists and modern-day champions, along with administrators who have served the Club diligently to make it what it is today.
Bulldogs Through & Through, published to celebrate the Club’s 100th year in the VFL/AFL, is fully illustrated and includes many archival images from the Club’s earliest years along with extensive coverage of the famous premiership wins of 1954 (VFL), 2016 (AFL) and 2018 (AFLW).
In her foreword to the book, Western Bulldogs president Kylie Watson-Wheeler wrote:
“There are names and deeds captured and commemorated in this book that echo across generations, as well as historic turning points that have brought us to this moment in time and deserve to be immortalised.”
Published by Slattery Books, in conjunction with the Club, is available for purchase now via the Bulldogs Shop.
