The Western Bulldogs and ASICS Oceania are thrilled to announce the return of their joint initiative, which will see over 1500 junior footballers in the western suburbs of Melbourne receive a brand-new pair of ASICS footwear.

Following the success of the initiative in Ballarat last year, young AFL participants in the western suburbs, spanning across 18 community centres, will receive footwear in a bid to support the next generation of footy stars.

Forming part of an extension between the Club and ASICS, Bulldogs Chief Commercial and Strategy Officer Kon Karavias said it was a significant project.

“We’re delighted to announce the return of this initiative in partnership with ASICS, which will positively impact junior boys and girls in the western suburbs, who are the future stars of our game,” Karavias said.

“We saw the profound impact this initiative had on our Ballarat community last year and wanted to deliver that same outcome close to home. Supporting local communities is something both ASICS and the Club value highly, so we hope this initiative brings a smile to kids and their families here in the West.

“We sincerely thank ASICS for their continued partnership and for their generous ongoing support of community football once again. We could not do this without them.”

Mark Brunton, Managing Director, ASICS Oceania, shared Karavias’ sentiment.

“At ASICS, we believe in the positive power of sport to uplift the mind and unite community,” Brunton said.

“As a proud partner of the Western Bulldogs, this program provides a meaningful opportunity to support the children of Western Melbourne, ensuring they have the essential footwear to get active, build confidence, and foster a lifelong love for sport and community.”

Head of AFL Victoria Greg Madigan welcomed the initiative.

“This collaboration between the Western Bulldogs and ASICS is a wonderful initiative to support grassroots football in Melbourne’s west,” Madigan said.

“The region is a priority area for our community programs, with the opportunity to engage with kids from diverse backgrounds, including many who have not grown up playing footy or are new to the game.

Something as simple as a new pair of runners or footy boots can make all the difference for a young kid getting into football, allowing them to run around in comfort.”

ASICS shoes are developed using the latest product innovations, and are endorsed by leading sporting authorities, including The Australian Physiotherapy Association and Sports Medicine Australia.

All ASICS footwear is designed with performance in mind, ensuring athletes of all ages and abilities feel confident, comfortable and well supported whether running about on the playground or the sporting field.
