Star midfield duo Ed Richards and Marcus Bontempelli have etched themselves into Bulldogs history, with both players eclipsing Club goal assist records in recent weeks.

With 29 goal assists from 18 matches, Ed Richards has now recorded the most goal assists by a Bulldog in a single season, a spot previously held by Club legend Brad Johnson (28 goal assists) since 2009.

As of Round 19, Richards is ranked first league-wide for goal assists, score involvements and inside 50s.

Skipper Marcus Bontempelli's six goal assists against the Crows in Round 18 also set a new Club record; the most ever by a Bulldog in a single game.

Bontempelli's half-dozen assists were also the equal-fourth most by any player, with the all-time record of 10 held by Geelong's Steve Johnson from Round 19, 2011.
