Ahead of Issy Grant’s milestone match this Sunday, we take a closer look at the defining moments of her career to date.

Drafted

Pick 47, 2019 National Draft

Grant became the Club’s inaugural father-daughter selection when she was taken with Pick 47 in 2019. After starting her junior career at Spotswood, where she won three premierships and a best and fairest across four years, she then started playing for the Western Jets in 2019 predominately as a half-forward.

First game

Round 3, 2021

After missing the entire 2020 AFLW season due to a foot injury, Grant finally broke through for her league debut in Round 3 against Geelong. Collecting eight disposals and one mark as a forward, a move to defence the following season was when she really began to impact. This year is already proving to be a career-best as well, averaging 13.2 disposals, three tackles and 2.4 marks.

First goal

Round 8, 2023

Grant’s only goal came against the Swans in Round 8 of the 2023 AFLW season. Lining up from the pocket at the Geelong Road end of Mission Whitten Oval, Grant’s cool, calm and collected set shot was a moment the whole team celebrated.

Awards

  • Club Trainers’ Award (2022 S6, 2022 S7, 2024)
  • Club Community Award (2023)

Grant’s ability to impact those around her cannot be denied, highlighted by her Club Trainers’ Award treble and 2023 Community Award. Based on her stats during this early part of this season, it would not be a stretch to say she’ll poll well come the Club Best and Fairest event in December.
