Sam Darcy will become a third-generation State of Origin footballer in February after being named in the Victorian side today.

The 22-year-old will follow in the footsteps of grandfather David (Victoria) and dad Luke (South Australia) in participating in Origin football, with the tall likely to pair with Geelong’s Jeremy Cameron in a dangerous forward line.

Darcy joins his Bulldogs skipper Marcus Bontempelli in the Victorian team, while Aaron Naughton will suit up for WA.

The gun forward has played 45 games and kicked 89 goals for the Western Bulldogs.

The 2026 AAMI AFL Origin game will be broadcast on Channel 7 and Fox, as well as 7Plus and Kayo streaming platforms, spotlighting Perth and its world-class sporting facilities to the rest of the nation.
