The Western Bulldogs Football Club is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of 1954 premiership player Doug Reynolds.
Doug played 80 games and kicked 17 goals in the red, white and blue, including a famous effort in the Grand Final win over Melbourne, a game in which he was one of the best on ground.
Doug shared some wonderful memories of that win during the Club's Retro Round celebrations in 2024 that paid tribute to the 1954 team.
Asked about his Grand Final goal at a function ahead of another 51-point victory over Melbourne at Marvel Stadium, Doug said it was a treasured memory that he thought about every day.
Doug arrived at Footscray from Spotswood’s Under 18s where he enjoyed premiership success twice. He also won Spotswood’s 1951 Best and Fairest award.
He lived in the same house on Simpson St in Yarraville from his playing days right up until last year.
All at the Club would like to extend condolences to Doug's wife Shirley, son Scott and all of his family and friends at this difficult time.
