The 2019 Telstra AFL Trade Period is done and dusted.

It was a successful period for the Bulldogs, with list boss Sam Power getting two big deals done on deadline day.

WELCOME TO THE KENNEL…
There were two targets for the Bulldogs heading into the trade period, and they got both of them over the line in the final hours.
Josh Bruce was the first played secured, with the key forward joining from St Kilda just before 6pm.
With less than 30 minutes to go, key defender Alex Keath crossed from the Adelaide Crows.
The Crows’ future third round pick was also delivered in an exchange of draft picks.

OUT THE DOOR…
No players left the Bulldogs during the trade period, only draft picks.
The Bulldogs delivered picks 32 and 51 to the Saints to recruit Bruce.
Pick 45 in this year’s draft – and a future second-round selection – formed the package to seal Keath’s deal from the Crows.

WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAN?
The Bulldogs came, they saw, they got it done.
Two experienced players in Bruce and Keath come in, with the Bulldogs getting both deals done while retaining pick 13 this year and next year’s first-round pick.
Sam Power has had an elite 12 months.
The Bulldogs’ list boss brought in Sam Lloyd and Taylor Duryea this time last year, and a draft haul that included 2019 debutants Bailey Smith, Will Hayes, Lachie Young, Rhylee West and Ryan Gardner.
Marcus Bontempelli and Mitch Wallis were among the re-signings late in 2018, while 16 players – that’s right, 16 – were re-signed in 2019, including the likes of Lachie Hunter, Aaron Naughton, Caleb Daniel, Josh Dunkley and Tim English.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?
The Bulldogs’ list for 2020 will be finalised on December 2.
From here, we go to the 2019 NAB AFL Draft with three selections – 13, 53 and 89.
Pick 13 will be used on the opening day of the draft, November 27, with selections after the first-round to take place the following day.
The rookie draft is on November 29.
Five players from the 2019 remain without a contract as yet for next season – Tory Dickson, Fletcher Roberts, Lukas Webb, Roarke Smith and Ryan Gardner.
First-to-fourth year players come back for pre-season on November 11, with all other players returning on November 25.
