Footscray faced another upset on the road, going down to Casey by 35 points on Sunday morning at Casey Fields.
Casey looked strong early, out-muscling the young Bulldogs and capitalising on their forward-50 entries in a 21.10 (136) to 14.17 (101) result.
Some goals late in the second quarter provided Footscray with some run, moving the ball well from turnovers, however inaccuracies in front of goal were costly.
A competitive third quarter saw both sides kept to three goals apiece, and Footscray looked back in it despite trailing by 35 points at the final change.
Three quick unanswered goals put the visitors within nine points and hope was gaining, but it was Casey's composure and goal flurry of their own which proved the difference in the end.
Oskar Baker led the Footscray stats with 27 disposals.
Jack Billings was strong at the contest with 26 disposals and 10 contested possessions, while Nathan Howard and Stirling Phipps-Parsons kicked three apiece to help keep Footscray in the contest late.
The Dogs will next host Collingwood at Mission Whitten Oval next Saturday afternoon.
