The VFLW Bulldogs have claimed a thrilling one-point victory over North Melbourne Werribee, holding on to win 5.4 (34) to 5.3 (33). 

The Bulldogs came out with plenty of energy from the opening bounce, applying relentless pressure and taking control early.  

The visitors' fast start was rewarded with four first-quarter goals, giving them an early advantage against the second-placed Kangaroos. 

The Roos responded in the second term however, lifting their intensity around the contest and forcing the Bulldogs to defend. 

The third quarter was a tough defensive contest, with both teams struggling to make an impact on the scoreboard. The Bulldogs continued to apply pressure around the ball, but the Kangaroos refused to back down, setting up a thrilling finish with scores level at the final change. 

The hosts mounted one final charge in the last quarter, but the Bulldogs stood tall when it mattered most. The Bulldogs absorbed the pressure, held their nerve in the closing stages and secured a memorable one-point victory. 

India Barker came out on top of the stats with 15 disposals and five intercepts. 

Cassidy Mailer was finished with two goals to her name, while Jaimi Tabb racked up seven tackles and seven clearances.  

Head coach Liam Cavanagh was delighted and relieved after the nail biting win.  

“We were just so organised in the last five minutes, they deserve the win,” said Cavanagh. 

“We were proud of the group regardless.”
