Western Bulldogs star midfielder Jess Fitzgerald has started the AFLW season off with a bang, polling maximum AFLCA Champion Player of the Year votes in Round 1.

Fitzgerald came away with 30 disposals (16 contested), … and …, putting on a stand out performance in the side's victory against Gold Coast on Saturday.

Sarah Hartwig was next best for the Dogs with six votes for three goals, three marks and five score involvements.

Britney Gutknecht (three votes) and Kaylee Kimber (one vote) also polled.
