Ahead of Rylie Wilcox’s milestone match this Friday night, we take a closer look at the defining moments of her career to date.
Drafted: Pick 21, 2022Â
Wilcox became a Bulldog with the Club’s first selection in the 2022 NAB AFLW Draft.Â
Just 17 years old at the time, Wilcox was described as a classy and crafty small midfielder-forward, known for her evasive skills, decision-making and blistering speed.Â
She was a late bloomer to women’s football, having played soccer and hockey growing up before trying her hand with a Sherrin in 2018.
First game: Round 1, 2022 (S7)
It didn’t take long for Wilcox to make her AFLW debut, selected for the Dogs’ Season 7 opener in August 2022.Â
She registered 13 disposals and two marks in the seven-point win over GWS, and played the next eight games of the season.Â
In Round 3 she received a Rising Star nomination for 11 disposals and 252 metres gained in the three-point win over Fremantle, while also slotting her maiden career goal.
She was managed in the Round 10 season finale, but returned in time for the Club’s Elimination Final against Collingwood.
First goal: Round 3, 2022 (S7)
Wilcox’s first goal came in the same match she was recognised for a Rising Star nomination.
Running onto the ball inside 50 before finishing like a veteran, her composure and class did not go unnoticed.
She has booted 17 majors since then, including snaps from the boundary and soccer-style kicks off the ground.Â
Breakout season: 2025
While there’s no denying Wilcox is having a stellar 2026 season, last year’s campaign remains a career-best.
Averaging 14.1 disposals, 3.3 tackles and 2.5 clearances as a winger, Wilcox’s efforts saw her finish runner-up in the Club’s Best and Fairest for a second consecutive year.Â
She’s continued that fine form into this year, registering a career-high 26 disposals and five marks, to go with three goals, against the Swans in Round 4.Â
