The Western Bulldogs will face Collingwood next week at Adcon Stadium to play for a spot in the 2019 VFL Women’s Grand Final, after beating Richmond by 5-points on Sunday afternoon.

A dominant start saw the Bulldogs impact the scoreboard early, slotting three majors in the first term through recent AFLW recruit Dani Marshall, 2018 AFLW leading goalkicker Brooke Lochland and developing forward Elizabeth Georgeostathis.

A determined Richmond outfit came out firing after the first break, lessening the Dogs’ lead to just four points at half time. Throughout the third term, the Dogs managed to keep Richmond scoreless, while booting two goals of their own, to push the margin to 16-points at the final break.

With two minutes remaining in the final term, Richmond kicked their fourth major of the day and lessened the margin to 5-points. A Richmond free kick in their forward 50 after the final siren almost gifted the Tigers with the win. However, it wasn’t to be, with the Bulldogs ultimately running away with the narrow victory.

Recent AFLW rookie signing Dani Marshall enjoyed another dominant performance in the red, white and blue, while Kirsten McLeod was excellent in the air for the Dogs’ forward line.

AFLW ruck Celine Moody continued to shine in the middle of the ground, while Elizabeth Georgeosthatis impacted the scoreboard – booting two goals in another solid performance.

The Bulldogs will head back to Adcon Stadium next weekend to face Collingwood, with the winner progressing to the 2019 VFLW Grand Final.

A confirmed time and date for next week’s VFL and VFLW clashes will be confirmed following this weekend’s VFL and VFLW matches.
