Putting in the work

The Western Bulldogs’ AFLW players have been put to work this pre-season, according to forward Ellyse Gamble.

The Western Bulldogs’ AFLW players have been put to work this pre-season, according to forward Ellyse Gamble.

The Bulldogs returned to training in early November and Gamble said the standards have been set, with the group confident they can improve on its inaugural season.

“We’re really working hard to get the best out of each other,” Gamble told westernbulldogs.com.au.

“We’ve set really high expectations and standards of each other this year.”

The 20-year-old, recruited from the Burnie Dockers in Tasmania, said she is hoping to increase her strength in the gym to get the best out of herself on field.

“I’ve been working really hard on my fitness and I think I’ve come back to pre-season a lot fitter than I was last year.

“I’ve been working in the gym to be a bit more strength behind me.

“(I’ll be working towards) finding a bit more of a voice on the field, and confidence and building on that.”

The Bulldogs will play Fremantle at VU Whitten Oval in Round 1 of the 2018 competition on Sunday, February 4.
