Since 1897, more than 100 Premiership Cups have been awarded. It's sacred metal, lusted after by every player in the league.

When the 2016 AFL Premiership Cup was forged, a small amount of precious metal was left behind.

This metal off-cut was melted down and turned into a one-of-a-kind piece of history, to be sold to the highest bidder.

All proceeds will be going to Ladder, to tackle youth homelessness in Australia.

Bidding closes at 12pm, Wednesday 19 October 2016.

Ladder was established by AFL players in 2007 who wanted to do more to help tackle youth homelessness.

As a result, Ladder works closely with the AFL Players’ Association, the AFL and the players themselves.

Ladder is the official charity of the AFL Players’ Association.
