Western Bulldogs men’s health program Sons of the West will return for the third year in 2016, kicking off with a pre-season campaign on Tuesday 23 February.

The pre-season encourages both existing and new participants to join in exercise and physical education sessions in the lead up to the main program which will commence in June.

The longer format will now include three ten-week programs held from February to November, allowing participants to maintain their habits over a longer period.

Western Bulldogs CEO David Stevenson said he was excited to announce that the program would continue into a third year.

“With over 2,000 registered participants since the program’s inception in 2014, we’re thrilled that the Sons of the West program will continue to build on its foundations from the previous two years in 2016.

“The program has had an enormously positive impact on the wellbeing of men across the west of Melbourne and their families.

"We, along with our valued partners, are really proud to continue to tackle better health outcomes for our men in the West.”

The pre-season program aims to provide participants with a greater understanding of the importance of incorporating physical exercise into their daily lives.

The pre-season programs will be facilitated by qualified exercised physiologists, covering the following areas – physical activity, physical education, nutrition, water, setting and timing and program rationale.
