The Footscray Bulldogs have fallen to Geelong by 19-points in their Round 3 clash at GMHBA Stadium in a tightly fought contest.

Angus Monfries’ four goals saw the ‘Scray take control for a large portion of the game, until the final break which saw the visiting side trail by five points.

An early fourth quarter goal from co-captain Monfries saw the ‘Scray take the lead at the seventh minute, before the Cats booted two in a row and sealed the game.

Defenders Lewis Young (19 disposals) and Shane Biggs (29 disposals and nine marks) were dominant across the back line, while Jordan Roughead and Tom Campbell amassed 50 hit-outs in the ruck.

Monfries and Jackson Trengove’s (11 disposals and one goal) efforts up forward provided the Dogs with some crucial momentum, while Will Hayes (19 disposals and one goal) and Andrew Tashevski-Beckwith (23 disposals and six tackles) impressed in the midfield.

The Bulldogs have a bye next week and will take on Richmond on Saturday, May 5th at 7pm at VU Whitten Oval.
