This year young gun Callan Ward continued the impressive start he made at AFL level in 2008. The teenager made a big impression both up forward and through the midfield throughout 2009, missing only three games for the season.

After his performance in round eighteen against Fremantle, the youngster was finally awarded the NAB AFL Rising Star nomination we were all waiting for. Ward went on to finish equal 5^th in the competition and he is now also the proud recipient of the Western Bulldogs Most Promising Player.
