Western Bulldogs duo Ellie Blackburn and Izzy Huntington have been recognised in AFL Media reporter Sarah Black’s 2021 AFLW Team of the Year.

The team, which comprises of the 21 players who received the most nominations throughout the home-and-away season, saw both Blackburn and Huntington named on the interchange bench.

Blackburn had a red-hot start to the year, averaging 19.6 disposals and 351.9m gained, while contributing five goals.

Up forward, Huntington registered an average of 8.8 touches and 4.4 marks, while slotting 12 goals and recording a league-high 21 contested marks.

Both Blackburn and Huntington were also selected in the 2021 AFLW All Australian squad of 40 last week, with the final team to be announced at the W Awards on Tuesday 20 April.
