The Western Bulldogs have fallen to Collingwood VFLW by 64 points on Saturday afternoon at the Holden Centre.

In a challenging match, the Bulldogs struggled to hit the scoreboard, with Collingwood seeing out the game 11.6 (72) to the Bulldogs’ 1.2 (8).

Despite strong defensive efforts from the likes of Annabel Strahan and Danielle Marshall, the undefeated Magpies were dominant from the first bounce, taking an early lead with two first-quarter goals.

Emerging midfielder Britney Gutknecht put together an impressive display, while Jess Fitzgerald also continued her strong run of form.

Unfortunately, the second quarter remained a one-sided affair, as the Magpies kicked a further three goals to take a 31-point lead heading into the main break.

The Bulldogs fighting spirit was on full display in the third, as they managed to quell Collingwood’s quick ball movement to keep them to just the one major.

Unfortunately an onslaught of final quarter goals from the Magpies put the game well out of reach and they eventuated 64-point victors.

In what was a tough afternoon for the Bulldogs, rising star Isabelle Pritchard was a shining light - the young midfielder was ferocious around the contest and rewarded with a goal for her efforts.

Young gun Ella Friend also impressed, battling hard to provide a strong target in the forward line, in what was just her third outing at VFLW level.

The Western Bulldogs will now look to get back on the winners list and keep their finals hopes alive when they take on the Casey Demons next Saturday.
