LAST MEETING

Round 9 2021

Western Bulldogs 7.3 (45) def Richmond 5.2 (32)

A Kirsty Lamb masterclass was enough for the Bulldogs to edge Richmond in a thriller during the final round of the 2021 season. The 13-point victory was off the back of two late goals, gifting the Bulldogs a positive end to the season. Eleanor Brown was rock solid in defence with 19 touches, while Kirsten McLeod kicked multiple goals for the Dogs.

TALKING POINTS

Pride on the line

It hasn’t been smooth sailing for the AFLW Bulldogs to begin 2022, and arguably the biggest disappointment was missing the Pride Game against Carlton. Thankfully, this game has been moved to Sunday, where the Dogs will display their Pride guernsey for the fixture. It’s a special day for the players and they all can’t wait to run out.

Someone’s gotta win

Both sides have dropped their past three game – but this week, someone has to take the chocolates. The Dogs will be hopeful of finding their first victory to kickstart their season. A narrow loss to Fremantle has put the side on the right track – hopefully it leads to a W this weekend.

Blackburn rediscovers form

Ellie Blackburn was firing on all cylinders against Fremantle, going head-to-head with Kiara Bowers at different times. The skipper nearly dragged her team over the line and another strong performance could mean a victory in sight for the Bulldogs.
