Macrae a Bulldog for life

Western Bulldogs vice-captain Jack Macrae is set to finish his career as a one-club player after signing a five-year contract extension.

Western Bulldogs vice-captain Jack Macrae is set to finish his career as a one-club player after signing a five-year contract extension, keeping the midfielder at the Club until at least the end of the 2027 season.

The 27-year-old has become one of the most prominent midfielders in the game, claiming his third straight All-Australian jacket and the Gary Ayres Medal in 2021.

Drafted to the Club at pick six in 2012, Macrae has already carved out a decorated career, playing 185 games for the Western Bulldogs, including a premiership in 2016.

The ball magnet created history last season, setting the record for the most games with 30+ disposals, breaking the AFL/VFL record of 15 matches in a single campaign, further solidifying Macrae’s consistency on field.

Western Bulldogs General Manager of List and Recruiting, Sam Power, says he is delighted to see Macrae commit long-term to the football club.

“We’re thrilled to have Jack commit to five more years with the Western Bulldogs,” Power said.

“Jack has become a vital player for the Club and now sits among some of the best midfielders in the competition.

“He is an individual that is selfless in his actions, both on and off the field, while continuing to drive high standards of himself and those around him.

“Being elevated to the vice-captain role shows the respect he has from team-mates, and he will be integral to the continued success of the football club going forward.
