The Western Bulldogs will face North Melbourne on Good Friday for the second consecutive year this week.

The Bulldogs had plenty to celebrate in their last Good Friday encounter, which saw a Club record-winning margin of 128 points and bag of 10 goals from Josh Bruce.

They were set to face-off in 2020 before COVID-19 postponed the season, and stole a narrow three-point triumph in the inaugural 2017 fixture.

Having been part of the build-up before, skipper Marcus Bontempelli said it’s an extremely special game to be involved in.

“Football is an amazing opportunity to be able to play and live your dream as a kid, but then (there are other) opportunities you get for games like this, with the Royal Children’s Hospital and Good Friday Appeal, which we’ve been lucky enough to do a number of times with North,” Bontempelli said.

“It’s an added bonus to be part of a game that supports those young kids and their families who are affected by whatever unfortunate illnesses they have.

“The game is important, but the cause is even more important. It’s always special.”

The match will also be an opportunity for the Bulldogs to rectify their 38-point defeat to Richmond in round four.

“It’s obviously disappointing in terms of the result – we really felt like we had some great periods of momentum,” Bontempelli said post-match.

“We just missed our chances – we were probably out of position when we could’ve been up or put a bit of a gap on the scoreboard. A bit like last week, especially early you’d love to put that score on.

“It felt like an almost night at different points. We just turned the ball over too easily.”

The Good Friday SuperClash calls on all superheroes, super fans and super fundraisers to show up in support of the Good Friday Appeal this Friday afternoon.

The first bounce will be at 4.20pm at Marvel Stadium, with $5 from every ticket sold going towards the Appeal.
