The Western Bulldogs have fallen three goals short of a win against Southern Saints on Saturday morning at Trevor Barker Beach Oval.

The Bulldogs took an early lead, before conceding the next five goals to hand the Saints a 28-point buffer just after half-time.

Despite closing the margin with back-to-back majors, it ultimately wasn’t enough in the 5.7 (37) to 3.1 (19) affair.

India Barker, Mary Sandral and Jemma Webster were the Bulldogs’ contributors, while AFLW-listed player Brit Gutknecht collected a game-high 27 disposals and four marks.

Lucy Schneider finished with 25 touches, four marks and three clearances, while Eliza Morrison was solid with 19 disposals, five marks and three clearances.

The Bulldogs will next meet Collingwood on Saturday 14 May at the AIA Centre.
