What it means

While Geelong has been somewhat of a bogey team for the Bulldogs in recent history, they snapped a five-game losing streak when they defeated the Cats on their home deck in the final round of the 2023 season. That win should be fresh in the Dogs’ minds heading into Saturday night – and coming off consecutive victories should provide plenty of red, white and blue momentum. Geelong is yet to be beaten this season, so there’s no denying it will be a challenge, but on neutral turf anything is possible.

Who to watch

Star midfielder Adam Treloar has started the season in fine form, averaging 31 disposals, 4.7 clearances, and 4.3 tackles from the first three games. He enjoyed a best-on-ground performance against West Coast last weekend (35 touches, eight clearances, one goal) to claim 10 coaches’ votes, and was a standout in the Dogs’ last meeting with the Cats too. Expect Treloar to continue on this trajectory come Saturday night.

Bulldogs at “home”

With four current Bulldogs having been drafted out of South Australia, the red, white and blue could have the slightest home-ground advantage over Geelong this weekend. Looking at last week’s team, three South-Australian Dogs took to the field – Caleb Daniel (Edwardstown/South Adelaide), Bailey Williams (Brighton Districts & Old Scholars/Glenelg) and Caleb Poulter (Ardrossan/Woodville-West Torrens), so only time will tell now.

Gather ‘round for Gather Round

With the second instalment of Gather Round to return this weekend, the Bulldogs will be out and about in the City of Churches. Friday will play host to the Dogs’ Captain’s Run at Woodville-West Torrens Football Club from 1pm local time, while Saturday afternoon will see the club activating at the Macca’s Footy Festival in Elder Park. Enjoy one last opportunity to meet your Bulldogs’ heroes at the Macca’s Footy Festival from 10-11am on Sunday morning, before the team flies back to Melbourne.
