As a Club we are shocked and saddened by the passing of Maribyrnong Councillor Sarah Carter.
Sarah was a remarkable human being and a dear friend of the Bulldogs, and a proud advocate of our work at the Community Foundation.
Sarah was particularly passionate about our Leaders of the Pack Program, which empowers multicultural young women in the City of Maribyrnong by developing their leadership skills and connecting them with opportunities to participate in sports.
Sarah advocated for the improvement of health and wellbeing outcomes through her support of our Daughters of the West program.
Sarah believed in building people up reaching out to them where they are and was a passionate advocate of providing tailored content in-language to ensuring that needs-based content was delivered to suit of diverse communities (Vietnamese and East African) across Maribyrnong.
Sarah generously gave her time, attending numerous graduation ceremonies where she inspired women of all ages and backgrounds to engage with and give back to their communities. A true mark of her wonderful character; she was just as inspired by the people in her community that she met and spoke with, across events such as these and at our International Women’s Day events.
She gave so much of herself to her community and the causes closest to her heart with her trademark sparkle as a tenacious champion for social justice.
While she surely had much more to give, she left an indelibly positive impact in her short life.
Our sincere sympathies to her family, friends and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
