Scans have confirmed Western Bulldogs forward Arthur Jones will be sidelined for at least the next two months with a hamstring injury.
The 21-year-old had been recalled for the Dogs’ Round 10 clash with Essendon but was subbed off midway through the second term.
“Arthur was involved in a contest where he sprinted and lunged to lay a tackle,” Head of Sports Medicine Chris Bell said.
“The opponent has then evaded, which further rotated and overstretched Arty’s hamstring, causing a high-grade hamstring injury.
“Scans have confirmed that this involves the hamstring tendon, which is slower to heal and recover, so we expect Arty to miss at least the next two months of football.”
In more positive news, defender Liam Jones will be tested ahead of a Thursday night meeting with Geelong.
“Liam has progressed really well following his calf injury,” Bell said.
“He has been building some great training continuity across the last week, but still has some boxes to tick before we can confirm his availability.”
Meanwhile, Cody Weightman’s return-to-play timeline remains indefinite as he is expected to undergo further surgery on his knee this week.
