LAST MEETING
Round 6, 2025
Western Bulldogs 18.19 (127) def. St Kilda 8.8 (56)
Despite conceding four of the first five goals of the game, the Bulldogs went onto kick seven straight, which ultimately set up the 71-point Easter Sunday victory.
Captain Marcus Bontempelli was stellar in his return from injury, collecting 30 disposals and eight clearances to go with two goals.
Aaron Naughton and Rhylee West got to work up forward with three majors each in the absence of Sam Darcy (knee), who was subbed out late in the first quarter.
THE LINE-UP
WHO TO WATCH
After suffering what many feared to be a season-ending knee injury in the last encounter with St Kilda, Sam Darcy's return will undoubtedly be the main draw card of Thurdsay night's match.
The star forward will be looking to continue his career-best form that wowed the footy world earlier this season, and provide welcome firepower to the Bulldogs' in-form forwardline.
WHAT THE EXPERTS SAY
- Martin Pegan, afl.com.au
St Kilda (5-7) earned the pre-bye boost that it needed when a surprise win over the in-form Melbourne followed a stretch of one victory in seven matches. The Saints still have work to do to be considered a genuine finals contender but if they can even the ledger over the next month against the Bulldogs, Magpies, Dockers and Hawks they will have proven themselves as more than just a danger team.
The Western Bulldogs (6-6) have backed coach Luke Beveridge to lead the side for at least two more years though their hopes of an eighth finals campaign in his 11th season in charge remains uncertain. The Bulldogs are still to prove themselves against top-four contenders after a defeat to the Hawks and must make the most of a soft draw to come with the Saints, Tigers, Swans and Roos up next.
