Drafted: Pre-draft signing, 2019 – Richmond
Edmonds was elevated from Richmond’s VFLW list to its inaugural AFLW list ahead of the 2020 season. A basketball convert who fell in love with footy after joining friends at a training session in Year 10, Edmonds enjoyed a dominant VFLW campaign in 2018 to be named in the Team of the Year.
First game: Round 1, 2020
Fresh after being signed, Edmonds was straight into the mix at Richmond. She made her debut against Carlton in Round 1. It was a quieter output for Edmonds, recording five disposals, two tackles and six hit-outs in the 34-point loss, before going on to play every match of the COVID-shortened season.
First goal: Round 5, 2023
It took Edmonds five seasons to breakthrough for her first AFLW goal after earning a free kick for a tackle on Saints skipper Hannah Priest. She went back and kicked truly, before nailing her second career goal just moments later.
Arrival at the Dogs: 2021 replacement signing
Edmonds was added to the Bulldogs’ primary list ahead of the 2022 (S6) AFLW season as a replacement player for the injured Gabby Newton. She played every match but one in her debut Dogs’ campaign, backing this up in Season 7 to claim a second-placed finish in the Best and Fairest.
Awards: Second place Best and Fairest (S7), Most Improved Player (S7)
Edmonds’ second campaign as a Bulldog was one of her best, finishing runner up in the Best and Fairest with 78 votes. She averaged 26.2 hit outs, 8.9 disposals and 2.3 marks across 11 games to also be recognised as the Most Improved Player on the night.
