The John Van Groningen (Trackers and Guides) award is given to the player who has a relentless work ethic, is disciplined in executing the essentials, courageous, demonstrates selfless team acts and has an encouraging tone of voice.
The award was introduced in 2013 and is named after the Club's former Chaplain, who passed away in December 2012.
John was instrumental in providing counselling and mentoring services to the Club's playing group and personnel through his position as Club Chaplain. John is also remembered for his work with remote indigenous communities in the Northern Territory and India through his 'Red Dust' role models program.
