Since the 1990s, this side of the ground has been affectionately known as the ‘Doug Hawkins Wing’, named after the charismatic fan favourite and champion winger who made it his own during the 1980s and 1990s.

In 1994, at the Western Oval, Hawkins broke Ted Whitten’s long-standing Club record of 321 games. Before the match, he famously exchanged a flick pass with Whitten in a symbolic gesture - passing the torch from one Bulldogs legend to another.

Hawkins would go on to play 329 games, a record later surpassed by fellow greats Chris Grant (341) and Brad Johnson (361). Other Bulldogs to join the 300-game Club include Scott West (324), Bob Murphy (312) and Rohan Smith (300).
