Western Bulldogs recruit Mikala Cann says she can’t wait to get to work under coach Tam Hyett.
Cann arrives at the Kennel after 76 games at Collingwood, bringing not only a wealth of experience but plenty of physicality on-field and leadership off-field.
“It’s absolutely incredible – I’m so stoked to be here,” Cann said.
“There were a few different things that I weighed up – the first being a fresh and new chapter for me.
“Then there was the really clear and exciting opportunity that Tam presented to play to my strengths as a footballer and hopefully compliment a really established midfield group.
“What I can bring is my leadership qualities and my experience. As much as I’ll probably help (my teammates) in ways, they will definitely help me develop as a person and a player as well.”
Cann said she was looking forward to meeting her new teammates and being coached by Hyett.
“I’m really excited to meet everyone and get to know them, but obviously the midfield group in particular,” she said.
“Blackers, young Poustie – who I’ve actually trained before. I’m excited to continue to work with her. Even Pritch and Fitz – I’m just really excited.
“(Tam) is an absolute ripper. I think what you see is what you get. That really excites me.
“I’m really excited to work closely with her…I know she’s going to get the best out of me as a person and as a player too.”
