Premiership Bulldog Dan Orgill will continue as Footscray captain in 2026.

Orgill was first appointed skipper last season, playing every game of the campaign on the way to leading the team to the 2025 flag.

Reigning Best and Fairest winner Billy Crofts has been elevated to the vice-captaincy, sharing the role with Norm Goss Medallist Cooper Craig-Peters.

Crofts also did not miss a match, while Craig-Peters played 18 of 21 after overcoming injury.

Head coach Alex Johnson said the appointments were great reward for the trio.

“We’re really pleased to have Dan lead the program again - he did a fantastic job last year so it’s no surprise he has been backed by the group again,” Johnson said.

“As a premiership captain too, he brings invaluable experience and a proven ability to lead under pressure, which is a huge asset for our group.

“Having Billy step into the co-vice captaincy alongside Cooper shows the calibre of leaders we have at our disposal.

“It’s great recognition for all three guys to be handed formal leadership titles for 2026 and we’re really excited to see what they do.”

The Bulldogs will officially begin their premiership defence at Mission Whitten Oval on Saturday 21 March against Casey.
