Four Bulldogs will be tested this week to assess their return-to-play timelines ahead of this weekend’s AFL and VFL clashes.
Jordan Croft was not named in the AFL Round 1 team following some soreness from the Opening Round win, while Lachy Carmichael copped a corkie in the VFL.
“At the end of the second quarter of the AFL Opening Round game, Jordan landed heavily from a marking contest which caused him to jar his back,” Head of Sports Medicine Chris Bell explained.
“These symptoms are continuing to improve across the last week, so we will work through a process with Jordan to make sure he is feeling 100% before we declare his availability.
“In the VFL game last week, Lachy received a heavy blow to his knee causing a significant corkie to the muscle that sits just above his knee.
“He had expected pain and swelling associated with this injury which impacted his ability to train, but he is showing good improvements this week and will be put through his paces at main training to determine his availability.”
Arty Jones and Laith Vandermeer are coming towards the end of their respective concussion protocol periods.
“Both Arty and Laith continue to progress well within our concussion return-to-play protocols,” Bell said.
“Both players still have boxes to tick across this week, but we are optimistic that both will return to availability this weekend.”
Zac Walker remains 6-8 weeks away with a foot injury.
