Young ruckman Lachie Smith will make his debut this Thursday night against Sydney at Marvel Stadium.
The 20-year-old was told in front of staff and players by roommate Cody Weightman this morning, becoming the fifth Bulldog to debut this season.
Drafted at Pick 47 in the 2023 National Draft, Smith has put together consistent form in the VFL, playing a key role in the premiership side that defeated Southport in last year's Grand Final.
“I am over the moon," Smith said.
“I was just sitting having some lunch with Will Darcy and next minute Cody Weightman was up telling the boys I was playing.
“My first and second year I have been just chipping away at my game, trying to develop and get better.
“I have just been trying to improve every week and I’m so excited to earn my opportunity.”
Smith joins Will Lewis, Louis Emmett, Michael Selwood and Lachie Jaques in making their debut for the Club in 2026.
