The Western Bulldogs have kicked off their VFLW season with a 23-point win over Casey at Casey Fields.
Casey showed some structure early into the second quarter however the Bulldogs proved they were too strong for the host's surge, ultimately claiming a 3.0 (18) to 6.5 (41) win.
With a dominance of inside 50s allowing the Dogs the ability to outrun Casey, debutants Scarlett O’Donnell, Jemima Wrigley, Elsie Conroy, Erica Fowler, Rain Dodd and Kiera Leare provided strong support.
In the second half, Casey came back with a surge to keep the margin close, however the Bulldogs were the ones left standing in the end.
As daylight faded to night, the last quarter saw Casey making one last push with two late goals, but it was the Bulldogs that ended up on top.
Ellie Bishop led the Bulldogs stats sheets with 25 disposals and a goal, while Jorja Livingstone wasn't far behind with 24 disposals.
Mary Sandral also snagged three goals.
Head coach Liam Cavanagh highlighted how the team showed their potential.
“We can get a lot of confidence (out of today) in what we can do,” he said post-match.
The Western Bulldogs take on Collingwood at home next Saturday in a VFL-VFLW double-header.
