After 637 days, Cody Weightman is back in the red, white and blue!
The small forward will make his long-awaited return to AFL football against Hawthorn at the MCG on Friday night.
Weightman hasn't played since the 2024 elimination final loss to Hawthorn, undergoing a number of operations on his knee relating to a rare congenital condition called bipartite patella.
The 25-year-old has completed full training in recent weeks and is now available for selection, with the call made to bring him straight back into the senior side.
Senior coach Luke Beveridge spoke of Weightman's influence on the group during the week.
“He's been getting through a lot more training, which is very, very encouraging,” Beveridge said.
"You know what, I think we forget what sort of player Cody is. He's just such an influential player for us, so to miss him for a whole year and then the prospect of him maybe playing again is quite exciting for us.
Weightman has played 76 games and kicked 126 goals for the Bulldogs.
To celebrate his return, the Club is offering a special Bulldogs membership discount of three games for $33. To find out more visit: membership.westernbulldogs.com.au
