Western Bulldogs defender Brit Gutknecht says she is excited to keep pulling on the red, white and blue guernsey for another two seasons.

Gutknecht put pen to paper on a contract extension this week, tying her to the Kennel until at least the end of the 2027 NAB AFLW Season.

“I’m very excited – I think we’re building something pretty special here and I can’t wait to keep pulling on the jumper,” she said.

“I think we’re fit and firing more than last season. We’re already so far ahead of where we were at this point last year.

“We combine professionalism with having a bit of fun as well.

“That’s what I love most about this group – that we’re here to get stuff done but we also have a bit of fun while we do it.”

Gutknecht has played 45 games since her debut in 2020, with her half-century milestone firmly on the horizon.

“(Reaching 50 games here) would be very special for me, considering I’ve had a pretty large chunk of time off with an injury,” Gutknecht said.

“It’s taken me a bit longer to get to 50 than others have, so I’d be very excited to hit that milestone.”

The AFLW Bulldogs will start their 2026 campaign against the Gold Coast Suns on Saturday 15 August.
