FREMANTLE withstood a fierce challenge from a gallant Western Bulldogs before pulling clear late to grind out a 37-point win at Optus Stadium on Friday night.

It was a fierce armwrestle for much of the game, with scores level at half-time and just 14 points separating the sides at the final change, but the Dockers found another gear in the final term to pull away to the 11.12 (78) to 5.11 (41) win.

While the win means Fremantle has almost certainly sewn up the minor premiership, the loss keeps the Dogs in eighth spot and in the pack of sides jostling for a wildcard spot.

Josh Treacy kicked a game-high three goals in his 100th game, while defender Oscar McDonald (12 marks, eight intercepts, 22 disposals) was outstanding.
