Western Bulldogs skipper Marcus Bontempelli says his side will be hoping to continue their run of momentum in Friday’s Wildcard Final against Collingwood.

The Bulldogs wrapped up their home-and-away campaign by defeating Melbourne by 21 points at the MCG, with Bontempelli hoping his teammates can keep that winning feeling front of mind.

“Ultimately you're trying to bridge today’s game and momentum into the next,” he said post-game.

“It’s great to have a win here at the ‘G…I think you have got to keep that memory fresh in your brains.

“You can turn the page with a new energy, and especially across the last two weeks (we’ve built) quite a bit of that momentum across that period…now going into what will be a great opportunity against the Pies.

“I think that would be my attitude and if I’ve got some words of advice for young guys, it’s look forward to the opportunity to play out here in front of what’ll be a great big crowd, and a great memory to make.

“There’ll be an element of nerves, but what a great experience to be a part of and hopefully we can continue on our season from there.”

Bontempelli praised contributions from players across the board to dominate the contest and come away with the win.

“The Demons have been in really great form all season especially here at the ‘G, so we really wanted to step up to that challenge,” he said.

“They’ve been a really strong offensive team so trying to combat that but bring our own flair and flavour from an offensive perspective, (we had) lots of different contributors which in the end is what's going to help you win the games going forward.”

With Connor Budarick and Bailey Dale back in the side from injury, Bontempelli spoke on how beneficial it was to have them back on the field, as well as the young Bulldogs who are starting to make their mark.

“I thought they were great - it’s tough to come into what was a pretty intense game especially on the ‘G…they both slot back in quite seamlessly and both played pretty pivotal roles in the outcome,” he said.

“It was super impressive and a testament to probably the touch and the condition they were able to get themselves in across that sort of six weeks.

“Today and even what I saw last week, the growth in some of the younger guys out there today - Luke Kennedy, Joshy Dolan, Davo (Sam Davidson), I just thought there were some great contributions across the board.

“They’re the guys that are going to take us forward really, when you consider the depth in our team. It's great to see those guys have really influential games going into the Wildcard Final."

Bontempelli called on the Bulldogs faithful to show up once again this Friday night.

“It’s a long season and there’s ups and downs, but as we know our supporters will continue to stick by us,” he said.

“We’re going to need (them) again next week to turn up - hopefully we can put on a good performance and continue our season.”
