The good, the not so good, the exhilarating, the heartbreaking… we’ve taken a look at the Moments That Mattered during the AFL season.

From now until the full playing group returns for the start of pre-season on November 25, westernbulldogs.com.au will count down 19 moments that had a big impact in 2019.

Had the Bulldogs blown their chance to win it?

At three-quarter time, it almost had that feeling about it.

The Bulldogs had looked the goods in the first half against Hawthorn in round two, but led by just four points at the major break.

In the third term, the Hawks kicked seven goals to two, opening up a 30-point lead at the final change.

But what’s that saying about a fat lady singing?

The Bulldogs refused to give up.

And they went on to record a famous victory at the MCG.

Nine last quarter goals – yep, nine – to the Hawks’ one saw the fast-finishing Bulldogs run away with a 19-point win.

They rode the wave of momentum.

Emerging forward Josh Schache came of age, slotting three of his four goals for the match. Billy Gowers kicked two for the quarter. Tory Dickson snagged one. So did Toby McLean. And Jack Macrae.

And Libba.

Libba, Libbbbbba, Libbbbbbbba, Libbbbbbbbbbbbbba.
