Drafted: Rookie signing, 2017 

Bennetts had never played footy before signing as a GWS rookie in 2017. A netball was her item of choice, winning four premierships with Victoria Fury in the Australian Netball League. She then transferred to the NSW Swifts for a short stint in the Super Netball League and tried her luck at the Giants’ AFLW testing day in September 2017. 

Giants’ head coach at the time, Alan McConnell, said he was excited by her potential: “She trialled here during our first trial day and excelled. She showed great poise and like a lot of dual-sport athletes, seems to have really good decision-making skills.”

First game: Round 1, 2018 

It didn’t take long for Bennetts to make her AFLW debut, selected for the Giants’ first match of the 2018 campaign. She collected nine disposals while taking four marks in a six-point loss to Melbourne. Bennetts played a further 30 games for the orange team before being traded to the Kennel at the end of the 2021 season.

First Bulldogs’ game: Round 1, 2022 (S6)

It was a case of déjà vu for Bennetts’ first game in the red, white and blue – coming up against Melbourne in Round 1 of season six. She was solid in the Dogs’ defence, registering 12 disposals and six tackles in a four-goal loss at Misson Whitten Oval.

Career-best outing: Round 2, 2026

Bennetts’ career-best performance came in her 73^rd match just two weeks ago. The 36-year-old finished with 24 touches (17 kicks) and 430 metres gained, along with five marks and four intercepts.
