Footscray vice-captain Cooper Craig-Peters and playing-coach Jack Billings have been named in the 2026 Smithy’s VFL Team of the Year squad.

Craig-Peters averaged 27.4 disposals and 7.8 clearances from his 15 games this campaign, with a season-high 36 disposal, 12-clearance eight-tackle performance in Round 5 against Sydney.

Billings played did not miss a match in his debut Footscray campaign, averaging 23.2 disposals, 4.1 inside 50s and 3.2 clearances.

He also booted 26 goals for the year.

Players must have played a minimum of 11 home and away matches this season to be considered.

48 players are in contention for selection in the final team of 24, which will be revealed at the 2026 VFL and VFLW Awards on Monday 14 September.
