On what impressed her most:
“The way we were able to turn it around after quarter-time…they were outworking us which was disappointing, but our mids went to work and dominated clearance from there.
“That started some really good time in forward-half for us.
On the current midfield mix:
“Cleo (Buttifant) is a point of difference for us. We’ve got a lot of bulls in there and a lot of good contest players, so Cleo just provides that power and speed. She’s really dynamic with her footwork.
“Then you’ve got someone like Fitzy who is a great first receiver on the outside.
“We’ve got a really nice balance in there at the moment, which is really good.
“We’ve learnt a lot about (Mikala Cann) and her ability to compete and turn up. She’s pretty coachable and really diligent in her training, which also brings others along.”
On Emma McDonald:
“I think she jarred her elbow. They were able to strap it back up so she came back on, and then we just managed her in the last quarter.
“I believe she’ll be okay, but will know a bit more later.”
On Sarah Hartwig’s impact:
“The thing with Twiggy is that she can get you in the air, but she can get you at ground level as well.
“She’s the ultimate hybrid sort of player.
“She does a lot of unrewarded stuff around her running patterns and her ability to pressure, so it’s nice for her to be rewarded (via the scoreboard).
“Having coached her at the Dragons, I sure know what she can do. It’s great having her part of our team.”
On where the team sits:
“I think we are showing glimpses – we are still yet to put together a consistent game.
“We only had about 2.5 quarters today. To be a top-four side competitor, you need to be really consistent and not have ebbs and flows in games. That’s something that we’re working on.
“When we do have that high, we’re very good – so it’s just about being consistent with it.”
On Deanna Berry:
“We’re probably one of a few clubs that has basically a full list (of players) to choose from.
“It’s really unfortunate that she got that collarbone injury, because we’ve just had players playing their role. We’re lucky that we’ve got depth.
“She’s training really well but we’re just at a point where everyone forward is playing their role.
“Again, those top-four sides (have) depth and competition for spots. It’s really healthy that we’ve got that at the moment.
“We’re winning and our forward-six are playing their roles. We’re really happy with that at the moment.
“She’s been great – everyone wants to be playing, whether you’re the captain or not. De’s a great leader and she knows that her time will come.
“We know that she’ll be ready when that time comes. It’s a good problem to have.”
