The Western Bulldogs are pleased to announce the appointment of Dale Amos as an assistant coach within their AFL program.
Amos joins the Club having compiled more than two decades of coaching experience across Amateur, APS, AFL and AFLW programs, bringing extensive development skills and a relationship-driven approach to Mission Whitten Oval.
Following a decorated amateur football career, the 49-year-old began his coaching journey at GFL League club South Barwon in 2004, leading the side to a historic hat-trick of Premierships.
Amos transitioned into the AFL system in 2009, coaching the Geelong VFL side for three seasons and developing young Cats that contributed to AFL premierships in 2009 and 2011.
From 2012, Amos served as an assistant coach under Chris Scott for three seasons.
Amos moved to Carlton in 2016 and served as an assistant coach across the backline and midfield during a five-year stint at IKON Park, focusing on the development of key position players behind the ball.
More recently, Amos has led Xavier College’s Football program as Head of Football while working simultaneously at Melbourne Football Club in the women’s program in Skills Acquisition and Coaching Development.
Western Bulldogs General Manager of Coaching and Performance Matt Egan said he was thrilled to have Amos join the Bulldogs.
“We’re so pleased to bring in someone of Dale’s coaching calibre and experience, with his ability to develop and build relationships with his players a key attribute along his coaching journey,” Egan said.
“Having such a diverse coaching journey across programs from elite juniors to the AFL, Dale will add valuable knowledge to our coaching group alongside his outstanding character as a leader.
“His calm demeanour and strategic approach will suit our evolving defence, which includes an exciting blend of youth and experience in the red, white and blue.
“We look forward to welcoming Dale and his family to Mission Whitten Oval later this month.”
