Vice-captain Marcus Bontempelli has jumped to fourth on the AFLCA Champion Player of the Year leaderboard, after leading the way against Port Adelaide on Saturday night. 

The superstar midfielder collected nine votes from the coaches, taking his season tally to 60.

Geelong’s Tim Kelly heads the leaderboard with 78 votes, with North Melbourne’s Ben Cunnington (65) and Carlton captain Patrick Cripps (62) rounding out the podium. 

Bontempelli was at his brilliant best in the win against the Power, setting the example from the get-go and finishing with 27 disposals, 10 tackles and nine clearances.

Fellow midfielders Jack Macrae (36 disposals, six tackles) and Josh Dunkley (29 disposals, seven tackles) continued their strong form, receiving eight and five votes respectively.

Forward Josh Schache earned three votes for his three-goal night, while defender Hayden Crozier also picked up two votes for his important role in defence. 

For the Power, Scott Lycett (two votes) and Hamish Hartlett (one vote) were acknowledged by the coaches.
