The Footscray Bulldogs have secured their fourth consecutive victory, defeating the Sandringham Zebras by 37-points at Trevor Barker Beach Oval on Sunday afternoon.

The Bulldogs’ inaccuracy during the first term saw the home-side get the upper hand, before Reuben William booted two majors late in the second term – handing the Dogs the 10-point lead at the main break. Gerard Gleeson’s three goals further helped the ‘Scray’s case, ultimately securing the 37-point victory.

Big man Jordon Sweet made his presence known in the ruck by dominating the hit outs (53-30), allowing the midfielders to win the clearances and move the ball forward. Emerging midfielders Rhylee West (24 disposals) and Cal Porter (20 disposals) brought their high-pressure brand of football, laying five tackles each.

Stepping up at crucial moments, Footscray’s defensive structure proved vital in the Dogs’ win. Moving up the ground when needed, Fletcher Roberts was a reliable figure in the backline collecting 21 disposals and eight marks, while veteran defender Dale Morris played his selfless brand of football, laying three tackles and taking two marks.

Footscray head into the bye sitting third on the ladder and will return to take on the Frankston Dolphins on the 4th of August at Skybus Stadium.
