WEST Coast has consolidated its position in the top eight after a hard-fought seven-point win at Etihad Stadium over the Western Bulldogs.

Despite missing Josh Kennedy, Matt Priddis, Mark LeCras and skipper Shannon Hurn, the Eagles dominated for three quarters before holding off a spirited fightback to seal the 12.15 (87) to 11.4 (80) win.

The Eagles also achieved the victory despite playing two down for most of the second half with Sharrod Wellingham and Sam Butler suffering injuries.

Andrew Gaff racked up some big numbers on the wing, while Jack Darling and Malcolm Karpany booted six goals between them.

The Dogs never really got going and now sit in 10th place on the AFL ladder.
