Utility Ashleigh Guest will miss the start of the 2020 AFLW season after suffering a left knee and ankle injury.

Guest, who joined the Bulldogs from Melbourne during last year’s Trade Period, sustained ligament damage to both her knee and ankle in a training drill last week.

The setback will see the 29-year-old wear a leg brace for the next four to six weeks.

A return to play timeframe will become clearer following this period, however it is anticipated Guest will be available to return later this season.

“It’s unfortunate news for Ash, who has been really impressive throughout her first AFLW pre-season with us,” General Manager of Women’s Football, Debbie Lee, said.

“We’re confident Ash will be able to get back on the field later this season and hope to see her pull on the red, white and blue at AFLW level for the first time.”

Guest, who was part of the Bulldogs’ VFLW program in 2019, has played 18 AFLW matches over the past three seasons with Melbourne and the GWS Giants.
